Climber Brent Kuemmerle, who lost his right leg in a car accident in 1995, climbs up the wall of Cave Rock just north of South Lake Tahoe, NV, Monday evening May 12, 2003. This rock, long prized by climbers for its challenging routes and easy access is also a sacred spot for the local Washoe tribes of northern Nevada. American Indian doctors would go to a place called ?De ek wa dep push? to meditate, this was thier name for Cave Rock Recently a temporary agreement was reached allowing climbers to use existing routes, but install no new ones.
